FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Kassandra Komma recorded her second top-five finish of the season, shooting 150 (+6) to finish in a tie for third place, while Donna Fiscelli posted a career-best score of 77 in her final round to lead Oakland to a fourth-place finish at the IPFW Spring Invitational on Tuesday. The Golden Grizzlies shot 309 (+21) in the final round to post a score of 621 (+45).
"Congrats to Donna with a career-low round," said OU coach Russ Cunningham. "Everyone had some really good stretches of holes, but we are still making too many poor decisions, combined with some inconsistent ball striking. As a team we tied for low round today, so we will focus on using that small victory moving forward."
Danielle Crilley tallied a season-best tying score of 77 in her final round and finished in a tie for 18th place with an overall score of 156 (+12). That is her lowest 36-hole score of her young career.
University of Indianapolis won its second straight IPFW Spring Invitational title, posting an overall score of 612 (+36), two shots in front of Youngstown State. YSU's Allison Mitzel and Aislynn Merling finished 1-2 for the Penguins, posting scores of 147 (+3) and 149 (+5), respectively.
The Golden Grizzlies will be in action again this weekend at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, April 12-13, at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
