TULSA, Okla. - Senior Kristi Evans tallied her fourth goal of the season on a penalty kick, and senior Jessica Boyle added her fourth goal as the Oakland University women's soccer team (3-7-2, 2-0 Summit League) picked up a 2-0 win over Oral Roberts (3-6-1, 0-1 Summit League) on Sunday afternoon.
"The players worked really hard this weekend," said head coach Nick O'Shea. "They all understood the importance of starting league play with a couple wins and we accomplished it. We put out a great team effort. It was great to get two wins and two shutouts."
Evans opened scoring for OU on a penalty kick in the 10th minute, while Boyle struck in the closing seconds of the first half on a feed from Carella DiMaggio.
Senior Kim Herbst made five saves en route to her second consecutive shutout. OU held an 18-8 advantage in shots, including a 12-0 advantage in the first half.
The Golden Grizzlies will return to action on Friday, hosting IUPUI at the OU Soccer Field. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
