ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland sophomore midfielder Claudia Krupicz is competing on the Polish University women's soccer team which is currently participating in the World University Games (Universiade 2015) held July 3-15 in Gwangju, South Korea.
The Polish team dropped the first two games in Group C competition 4-1 to China and 3-0 to Brazil. They take on Columbia tonight at 11 p.m. EST.
During her freshman campaign, Krupicz started in seven of 16 games finishing third on the team in goals (2) and points (4) scoring her first career goal at St. Francis (Sept. 21).
Universiade (derived from the combination of "University" and "Olympiade") is an international sporting event organized by FISU (International University Sports Federation). Held under FISU's motto, `Excellence in Mind and Body,' university students from around the world participate in this event to advance the development of education and culture, build friendship through sport, and honor sportsmanship. Held every other year on odd-number years as a multi-sport event, it is the largest sporting event after the Olympics and is divided into the Summer Universiade and the Winter Universiade with each being held in different cities.
