ELMHURST, Ill. -- Kyla Kellermann was named Summit League Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The sophomore forward from Elmvale, Ontario, Canada had four goals and an assist over the weekend.
Kellermann scored a hat trick that included the match-winning goal in Oakland's season opening win over Rochester College. In addition to recording the 20th hat trick in school history, her three goals are tied for the third most in school history.
After a successful start to the season, Kellermann netted a key goal and also provided an assist in the Golden Grizzlies' 3-3 draw at Eastern Michigan on Sunday. That gave her nine points for the week.
It was the first time that Kellermann has claimed the league player of the week award in her career. She was also honored as the CollegeSportsMadness.com Summit League Player of the Week.
The Golden Grizzlies are back in action on Sunday with a match against Loyola (Md.) at 11:30 a.m.
