Shannon Coley Named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. -- Shannon Coley was named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The senior goalkeeper from Auburn Hills, Mich. wins the award for the second time in her career.
Coley made seven saves in the Golden Grizzlies 0-0 draw with Michigan State. The shutout against MSU was the first this season for Coley and was the first time Oakland has kept a clean sheet against the Spartans in 10 meetings. It was the eighth career shutout for Coley who moved to 15th in career shutouts in The Summit League.
After her effort against the Spartans, Coley made five saves in a 1-0 loss to Michigan on Sunday. In 200 minutes of action against Big Ten opponents during the week, Coley allowed just one goal, while making 12 saves and earning a .923 save percentage.
Coley and the Golden Grizzlies travel to Northern Kentucky for their next match on Friday at 7 p.m. Oakland will then return home to host Northwestern on Sunday.
