ELMHURST, Ill. -- Shannon Coley was named The Summit League Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The senior goalkeeper from Auburn Hills, Mich. was also named Summit League Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com.
Coley earned the recognition after posting back-to-back shutout wins over the weekend to help Oakland clinch The Summit League regular season title. The Golden Grizzlies won both matches 1-0, as Coley posted a perfect 0.00 goals-against average and a 1.000 save percentage. She made 13 saves during the week, including a 10-save performance in the clinching match against Western Illinois.
Coley is tied for the league lead with six shutouts this season. Her 13 career shutouts rank third all-time at Oakland and eighth in Summit League history. It Coley's third league player of the week award this season and the fourth of her career.
Oakland is the top seed heading into The Summit League Championship this weekend. The Golden Grizzlies will face Western Illinois on Friday at 4 p.m. ET.
