OAKLAND DROPS SERIES OPENER AT WRIGHT STATE, 4-2

DAYTON, Ohio - Kelsie Swanson hit 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and two singles while Mikayela Marciniak and Lyndsay Hill each went 2-for-4 as Oakland (15-15, 8-5 HL) fell in the series opener at Wright State, 4-2, on Friday at the WSU Softball Field.

Erin Kownacki picked up the loss tossing 5.0 innings allowing three earned runs. Kaley Waalkes also pitched an inning in relief.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, Swanson hit a RBI single to score Jackie Reitmeyer tying the game at 1-1.

WSU (13-20, 8-2 HL) added two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to move ahead 4-1. Hill doubled in the top of the seventh followed by a RBI double from Marciniak cutting the lead in half at 4-2 but that would be as close as Oakland would get.

The Golden Grizzlies and Raiders conclude the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 15 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
