DETROIT - Jamie Squires recorded both RBI singles including the game-winner propelling Oakland to a Metro Series doubleheader split with a 2-1 win and 1-0 setback at Detroit Mercy on Tuesday at Buysse Ballpark. Erin Kownacki picked up the win recording her 13th complete game with seven strikeouts.

Lyndsay Hill hit 3-for-4 scoring both of Oakland's (17-17, 10-7 HL) runs. Lauren Mead and Lauren Pletscher also each recorded a hit.

Oakland stuck early as Squires hit her first RBI single to score Hill in the first inning for a 1-0 lead.

Detroit pulled even in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI single. With the bases still loaded and no outs, Kownacki forced three consecutive infield pop-ups to get out the jam keeping the game tied.

Squires' go-ahead single scoring Hill came in the seventh inning giving the Golden Grizzlies a 2-1 lead. Kownacki then closed the door on the Titans stranding a runner on third to preserve the win.

In game one, Oakland came up on the short end of a pitcher's duel as Haley Zemmer tossed 6.0 innings allowing two runs on three hits with six strikeouts. Detroit's Liz Murphy recorded the complete game shutout allowing six hits.

Mead led the Golden Grizzlies going 2-for-3 while Hill, Abbey Walewski, Kelsie Swanson and Brittney Miller each recorded hits.

The rubber match between the Golden Grizzlies and Titans is set for Wednesday, April 19 at noon.
