INDIANAPOLIS - Oakland softball standouts Lyndsay Hill and Mikayela Marciniak were named to the 2017 Horizon League Softball All-Academic Team announced by the league office. A total of 12 student-athletes garnered league honors with a combined grade point average of 3.84.
Hill, a senior with a 3.68 GPA majoring in exercise science, is tied for the team lead in triples (2), tied for third in hits (37), third in RBI (12) and fifth in batting (.285). Her .388 average in conference play ranks sixth in the league. She was named Horizon League Player of the Week after leading Oakland to a perfect 6-0 league mark for the week (Apr. 10) hitting a blistering .688 with 11 hits, seven RBIs, seven runs scored, a home run, two triples, two doubles and 1.250 slugging percentage. Hill also recorded four RBIs nearly hitting for the cycle with a home run, triple and single against Green Bay (Apr. 9).
Marciniak, a sophomore with a 3.80 GPA majoring in pre-business administration, ranks second in the league in RBI (20) and ninth in hits (23) in conference-only statistics. She also is tied for the team lead in batting (.351) and triples (2) while leading the team in hits (42), doubles (10) and ranking second in home runs (3).
