Oakland Battles Tough in 5-2 Loss at Florida Atlantic
The Golden Grizzlies won the doubles point.

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Tamara Blumwon at No. 3 singles, as Oakland (1-3) battled to a 5-2 loss against Florida Atlantic (4-3) on Wednesday at Patch Reef Park. Four of the six singles matches went three sets.
"Florida Atlantic is a good team," said Oakland head coach Heather Redshaw. "The team played really well today and we were very close to winning in some of those three-set matches."
The Golden Grizzlies won the doubles point by claiming two of the three matches. Cam Sabourin and Grace Keating battled to an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles. Karine Celis and Juliana Guevarathen clinched the doubles-point with an 8-6 win over Taylor Briggs and Claire-Mitchell Andrews at No. 1 doubles. OU lost 8-4 at No. 2 doubles
In singles action, the Golden Grizzlies battled the Owls before eventually falling. Blum dropped her opening set 2-6, but rallied to win a tiebreaker in the second set. She went on to win the match with a 6-3 third set to complete her win 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3 over Natasha Basma.
Three OU players lost in three sets. Celis was close at No. 2 singles, winning the second set 4-6 before falling 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. Keating was also close at No. 6 as the two players split tiebreak-wins in the opening sets in a match that ended 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 6-3 in favor of Andrews from FAU.
At No. 1 singles, Emily Raidtwon the first set, before she eventually lost 2-6, 6-1, 6-0. Sabourin and Guevara both lost in straight sets.
The Golden Grizzlies are back in action on Saturday for a match against Eastern Michigan at the Chippewa Racquet Club at 7 p.m. OU will also play on Sunday at Cleveland State at 2 p.m.
