ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Oakland's Allison Motea has been named to the All-Horizon League second team the league office announced on Thursday.
Motea has tallied five wins in the No. 1 singles spot for the Golden Grizzlies during her freshman campaign and boasts the second most wins of any freshman in the No. 1 singles spot in the Horizon League.
The Birmingham, Mich. native recorded five wins in doubles play on the year and earned big wins this season for Oakland including one against Milwaukee's 2016 All-Horizon League first team selection, Labina Petrovska.
Motea was one of two freshmen to be named to an all-conference team, and the only freshman to earn second team accolades.
The Oakland tennis team is set for the Horizon League Championship April 28-30 in Ann Arbor, Mich. at the Varsity Tennis Center as the Golden Grizzlies (8-12, 4-5) will enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 Detroit Mercy (10-11, 6-3) on Friday at 3 p.m.
