INDIANAPOLIS -- Krysteena Davis recorded 12 kills for a hitting percentage of .667 plus seven blocks as the Oakland volleyball team took down Eastern Michigan in four sets Friday afternoon at the Butler Tournament. The season opening win was the first since 2014.

Darien Bandel had a match-high 13 kills and added three blocks while Jamie Walling had 10 kills and three blocks in her Oakland debut. Defensively Darrin Rice led the way with 13 digs while sisters Courtney Wightman and Lindsay Wightman each registered 10 digs.


In game two, Oakland fell to Butler in five sets, as Courtney Wightman slammed 11 kills to go along with 18 digs plus two blocks. Bandel added 13 more kills and four blocks, while Walling had another double-digit kill performance recording 11 kills and four blocks. Rice and Jordan Lentz joined the 20-dig club this season by registering 24 and 22 digs respectively.

The Golden Grizzlies will face Stony Brook at 9 a.m. and Robert Morris at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow in the final day of the tournament.
