ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Darien Bandel hit nine kills and recorded 10 digs as the Oakland volleyball team defeated Kent State (1-8) in three sets Friday evening at the O'rena during the opening day of the Golden Grizzlies Invitational.

Jamie Walling recorded six kills for a hitting percentage of .545 and added two digs and blocks while Sammy Condon slammed six kills as well, hitting .455. She also had three digs and one block, assist and service ace. Krysteena Davis registered a game-high 10 kills plus one block.

The Golden Grizzlies (5-5) have not lost a home opener since 2010 and will play a pair of matches tomorrow in the final day of the invite starting with Fort Wayne at noon, then Towson at 7 p.m.
