ROCHESTER, Mich. - Meghan Bray had 13 kills and 24 digs and Alli Kirk added 30 digs as the Oakland volleyball team (18-10, 12-6) ended the regular season with a four set win over Western Illinois (12-18, 3-15) on Senior Night in the Athletics Center O'rena Saturday evening. With the win, OU set the school record for most wins in a single-season in the Division I era with 18.

"We were able to get some momentum in the second set and it carried on for the rest of the match," said head coach Rob Beam. "Getting 18 wins is really a testament to our seniors coming in as freshmen and being convinced that they would be the group to turn this program around."

The Golden Grizzlies honored five seniors tonight as Jenna Lange, Allison Bell, Ashley Nevelle, Katie Horling and Lauren Milosek played their final home match in the O'rena.

"I'm really proud of our seniors and it was really great to get a win to celebrate the end of their careers at Oakland University," added Beam."

Bray and Taylor Humm led the front line with 13 kills each while Bell added 11 and Lange had 10 kills. Nevelle and Alissa Valentine combined for 56 assists, 29 and 26 respectively. Bray and Kirk were the leaders in digs as Humm was the only other OU player with double-digit digs with 10.

The Leathernecks came out strong in the first set earning the victory 25-17 behind a .312 team hitting percentage in the opening game. Oakland turned on the defense after that as WIU did not hit higher than .034 in the final three sets.

Oakland won the second set 25-16 as Oakland started the set with eight straight points to take a 10-3 and never looked back. The Golden Grizzlies won the third set behind 18 team kills with a .342 team hitting percentage. In the fourth and final set, Bray began the set with four aces as Oakland won the opening seven points to cruise to a 25-15 set and match win.
