ROCHESTER, Mich.- The 2014 Oakland volleyball season was one for the ages, as the Golden Grizzlies established numerous firsts, culminating with the team's NCAA Tournament appearance.
Oakland won the 2014 Horizon League regular season and tournament championships, the team's first conference tournament titles as a Division I program.
The team clipped off a 10-match winning streak, the longest for the squad since the 1997 season.
Oakland bettered its preseason prognostication after being picked to finish third by Horizon League coaches.
The Golden Grizzlies's Horizon League Tournament wins were the first-ever postseason victories for Oakland in its Division I history.
In the NCAA statistical rankings, Oakland finished 36th nationally in aces per set (1.50).
Oakland went 22-10 overall, posting the team's first-ever 20-win season at the Division I level, and 13th in the team's 39 seasons of intercollegiate competition.
Oakland defeated 2013 SEC Tournament champion Missouri in Columbia, Mo., Sept. 6
The Golden Grizzlies went 10-3 at the O'rena.
Oakland won the Army Tournament Sept. 13-14 with a trio of victories.
The Golden Grizzlies set six team records on the season:

Setter Ciara Schultz finished the year ranked 52nd in the NCAA in total assists (1,244). That number also set an Oakland record for assists in a single season.
Taylor Humm ranked 65th nationally and first in the Horizon League with 545 total assists. For her four-year career, Humm ranked in the top 10 in Oakland history in digs (3rd, 1,548), digs per set (3rd, 3.83) and sets played (7th, 404).
Melissa Deatsch, Jessica Dood, Taylor Humm and Ciara Schultz all appeared in 120 sets in 2014, establishing an Oakland single-season record.
Taylor Humm had a career-best 34 digs against Valparaiso Nov. 8, which ranks fifth-best in Oakland records.
Amanda Baker had a career-high 10 blocks against UIC Nov. 7, which is tied for ninth-best in team history.
Melissa Deatsch had five service aces against Wright State Oct. 31, which is tied for seventh-best in team history.
Rob Beam eclipsed the 100-win plateau for his head coaching career with the team's season-opening win over Louisiana Tech Aug. 29.
For the third consecutive year, Oakland volleyball was an AVCA Team Academic Award winner for their scholarly efforts in the 2013-14 academic year.
Cassie Pelloni was named to the Horizon League's preseason all-league squad.
Earning Horizon League weekly honors for Oakland were Amanda Baker (Defensive, Nov. 13), Cassie Pelloni (Offensive, Oct. 27) and Taylor Humm (Defensive, Oct. 20).
Taylor Humm was named the Horizon League Scholar Athlete of the Month for November.
Earning all-tournament team honors during the regular season were Amanda Baker (Western Michigan, Army), Sammy Condon (Missouri, Army), Melissa Deatsch (Oakland) and Jessica Dood (Army [MVP], Oakland).
Taylor Humm was named an honorable mention all-North Region performer by the AVCA, becoming the first player in Oakland history to be honored by the national organization.
Sammy Condon was named 2014 Horizon League Tournament MVP, becoming just the second freshman in conference history to win the award.
Also earning all-tournament team honors were Jessica Dood and Ciara Schultz.
Taylor Humm was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year.
Rob Beam was named the Horizon League Coach of the Year.
Sammy Condon, Taylor Humm and Cassie Pelloni were named All-Horizon League performers.
Sammy Condon was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman team.
Amanda Baker was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District 5 Second team by CoSIDA.
Taylor Humm, Amanda Baker, Sammy Condon and Melissa Deatsch were named to the Academic All-Horizon League team.
